Much is being made of the numerous events that are set to occur in September and October of this year, and their prophetic significance.  Since my first blog was largely about debunking internet nonsense and my background includes two years of bible school, maybe I should take it upon myself to address this latest dish of sensationalist drivel.

  1. The Messiah already came two thousand years ago.  Maybe you’ve heard of Him?
  2. The hype surrounding Shemitah comes primarily from a book called The Mystery of the Shemitah, where a Messianic Jewish rabbi named Jonathon Cahn (who previously wrote a similar book called The Harbinger) lists all of the bad things that will happen as a part of God’s judgment on America.  I’m very disappointed in Charisma House for publishing this book and Charisma Media (formerly Strang Communications) for publishing an article called “10 Things That Are Going to Happen Within 15 Days of the End of the Shemitah “.  In my forty years in the Charismatic movement I’ve yet to see one person predict the future accurately based on this type of book, and yet they sell like hotcakes because fear sells.
  3. Rosh Hashanah happens every year.  It means nothing except that cooler weather is coming.
  4. Anno Lucis is a dating system used in freemasonry, as you can see in the video.  What does that have to do with Christianity?
  5. This is based on a report back in March about a French proposed UN resolution.  The last I heard the Palestinian Authority rejected France’s proposal to have the UN force Israel to renew negotiations with the PA because they don’t want to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  That would leave the resolution in limbo.
  6. Jade Helm is nothing more than a military exercise that was well publicized, just like the exercises in 2014 and earlier.  The conspiracy theorists have made a big deal out of it but it means nothing prophetically.
  7. The International Day of Peace has no more prophetic significance than the International House of Pancakes.
  8. The 70th Year of Jubilee begins September 23?  Says who?  How do the people who make these claims actually support them?  I think they’re just repeating what they’ve heard somebody else say.
  9. The Day of Arafat?  Seriously?  See #7.
  10. Muslim Feast of Sacrifice?  Now they’re just making stuff up.
  11. Fancy numerology aside, Yom Kippur also happens every year.
  12. Mayan Cycle?  Is that anything like the Mayan Calendar that was supposed to indicate the end of the world in 2012?
  13. CERN (“Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire” or “European Council for Nuclear Research”)  does a lot more than just try to blow the world to Kingdom Come.  In fact, this is where the worldwide web was born.  Actually it’s CERN’s LCH (Large Haldron Collider) conducting the experiments.  While it is always a possibility I suppose (being a non-scientist I really have no idea and I suspect that most of the people promoting paranoia over this don’t either) that something could go horribly wrong, people have been predicting this for five years ever since the LCH began operations to conduct various particle physics experiments.  I seriously doubt that anybody will be able to predict any date for such a disaster.
  14. Oh pulllllease!  A Madonna concert?  LOL!!!
  15. The Pope?  Oh, now I get it!  They think Madonna is referring to Jesus’ mother.
  16. Didn’t we just do the Pope?
  17. Wait!  What???  The Pope again?  What is this, a Pope-a-thon?
  18. Gimmee a break!
  19. French Foreign Minister and Kerry meet.  Cool!  At least Madonna and the Pope aren’t in this one.
  20. A rave concert?  hmmmm … Madonna doesn’t do rave, does she?
  21. Also happens every year in the fall.  Next!
  22. The Blood Moon stuff was thoroughly debunked by Chris White .
  23. Fearmongerers and conspiracy theorists have been predicting the collapse of the dollar since Nixon took us off of the gold standard over forty years ago.  As my friend Marcus Curtis pointed out in his book on the Global Currency Reset theory, there are too many countries who have US dollars in their reserves to allow for a collapse of the dollar without collapsing the entire world currency market.  In fact, the worse things get for currencies like the euro, the Brazilian real, and the Chinese renminbi/yuon the stronger the dollar gets as people run to it because of its stability.
  24. A visit from a Chinese official while China’s economy is struggling is hardly a surprise, and certainly doesn’t carry any prophetic significance with it.
  25. They can call for an alternative global reserve currency all they want, but for the foreseeable future there is nothing else to turn to.  With the petrodollar system and the dollar being entrenched in countries around the world, China is going to just have to lump it for at least another five years.
  26. The fig tree generational theory has been used since at least 1970 when Hal Lindsey wrote “The Late Great Planet Earth”.  It then made a comeback in 1988 (back then they were saying that a biblical generation was forty years) when somebody wrote a book about Jesus returning that year.  It didn’t work then and it won’t work now.
  27. So now we’re going by Islamic prophecies?

Many people are being taken in by con artists masquerading as experts on bible prophecy.  Anybody who lived through the Y2K hype can tell you that it all amounted to nothing, or as they say in Spanish – NADA GRANDE!  I doubt that this will be any different.  My earnest expectation is that come 2016 I will still be sitting here at my computer, typing away about the Bible and bible-based subjects as the hypesters regroup and prepare their next heaping helping of eschatological excrement. I’ll be ready for them.
