Adam Smith was a Scottish Enlightenment moral philosopher and political economist who taught at the University of Glasgow. The Theory of Moral Sentiments examines sympathy, moral judgment, virtue, and duty. His later Wealth of Nations investigates commerce, labour, and the institutions of economic life.
